Lean into Life Community Coach Training

The Big Happiness Experiment CIC are delighted to announce the launch of the Lean into Life Walsall Community Coach Training Programme. This innovative project is being funded by The Inclusive Communities Fund, a legacy of the Commonwealth Games.

Whether you are a community leader, a dedicated volunteer, or a passionate advocate for mental health, this unique training programme offers you the chance to effect meaningful change in the very heart of your community.

We are offering free Mental and Emotional Health Coaching to 20 people starting in September 2024.

All applicants must be Walsall residents or be supporting people in the Walsall community.

The launch event will be taking place in Walsall in July 2024.

This is an exciting opportunity for us to support you in empowering your community for positive change that will create a lasting legacy for the West Midlands, and that will contribute to addressing inequalities across the region.

Our mission is to train 20 Lean into Life Community Coaches during the remainder of 2024. This training will provide the skillsets, knowledge, and support to deliver the Lean into Life Mental & Emotional Health Education Programme to Walsall residents within their own communities and cultures.

This training is being made available to individuals who are passionate about making a difference to the mental and emotional health of people within their own community or communities where they work, irrespective of language and culture.

Applications are now open for this Lean into Life Community Coach Programme and more information on criteria is listed below.

Who is eligible to apply for this training?

This unique training is being offered to suitable candidates who are residents of Walsall or provide support to Walsall communities to empower them (once trained and certified) to deliver the Lean into Life Programme to Walsall communities or groups. This will greatly enhance the services currently available to all communities, irrespective of language and culture.

There are no strict criteria for applicants to this training. Everyone who applies will be individually, and personally assessed. Don’t assume that certain qualifications are required to apply, it is in fact, the individual qualities and passion to make a difference to the mental and emotional health of the community that we are most interested in!

How do I apply?

The first stage of application is to complete the Initial Enquiry Formthat can be found below.

Once your application has been received, you will then be sent a confirmation email to confirm that your application is under review.

This will be followed up within 48 hrs (usually before) with a further email that will either (a) request an informal telephone interview to proceed to the next stage or (b) confirm the reason why your application was not successful.

Why was this unique training opportunity created?

The Big Happiness Experiment deliver a variety of life-changing projects for individuals grappling with anxiety, depression, chronic stress, burnout, low confidence, and low self-esteem. Their unique blend of education, practical tools, and strategies empowers people to overcome their mental and emotional struggles.

Be Part of the Revolution

After years of successful programmes across the Midlands, including the acclaimed Project Me in Walsall, Lee & Jules from The Big Happiness Experiment decided that they needed to be able to reach even more people and expand their impact. Thus, the ‘train the trainer’ programme was born!

Our first Lean into Life training in 2022/23, covered the whole of the Black Country, with 60 Community Coaches being trained and are now providing outstanding results in their own communities.

We are now excited to offer this training exclusively within Walsall.

How will this programme help?

This initiative will ensure that a unique Mental & Emotional Health Education & Coaching programme can be integrated into the very heart of different Walsall communities.

The training will ensure that all certified coaches, i.e.; registered Lean into Life Community Walsall Coaches, will be equipped with the knowledge, resources, and an extensive toolkit, that will empower them to deliver their own unique programmes. All coaches will be encouraged to think outside the box, finding creative ways to expand the programme, such as offering mini workshops, talks, day events, etc. This will ensure that this life changing material can be delivered in many ways, to support local communities.

Ultimately, this early intervention training programme will help communities across the breadth of Walsall to access an innovative and revolutionary mental & emotional health programme that is appropriate and readily available without long waiting times.

How many Lean into Life Community Coaches will there be?

It is our aim to train 20 Lean into Life Coaches between now and December 2024. The training is taking place in two ‘waves’ of 10 trainees. Further details are provided below.

Enquiries are welcome via email.

The Ripple Effect

The knowledge, tools, and techniques taught within this comprehensive training package will provide all Lean into Life Walsall Community Coaches with a skillset that has the potential to make a huge difference to individuals within their community.

From our many years of experience, we know that this positive impact will naturally and organically be spread further afield. The community members who attend the six-week courses, day events, workshops, etc., can themselves become ‘Community Champions’, passing this knowledge on to their family and friends and providing ongoing peer-to-peer support.

How much does this training cost?

Lean into Life Community Coach training is completely free; funding is provided by The Inclusive Communities Fund, a legacy of the Commonwealth Games.

However, once trained all Lean into Life Community Coaches will have to fund the delivery of their individual programmes using their own budget. Costs that might be incurred will include room hire, resource printing, workshop materials, etc. We envisage that many existing service providers and organisations will utilise this training to extend the current services that they provide.

Applications are now open for September 2024 and November 2024.

Please complete the ‘initial enquiry form’ by clicking the button below to ensure a place is reserved for you on this revolutionary programme.

The training will take place over six weeks and will be a comprehensive blend of ‘in person’ training days, online zoom sessions, and a fully functional on-line training portal that is brimming with video lessons and resources. There will be two one day ‘in person’ training events alongside weekly 2-hour virtual group sessions, weekly assignments, a bespoke online portal, and 1:1 support via text and email. This support package will ensure that this unique Mental Health Coaching programme can be made available in the very heart of the community. During the six-week training programme, these Lean into Life Walsall Coaches will be trained on all educational aspects of this project, alongside project development, in order that they can successfully deliver the programme within the community.

All in person training days (two in total over six weeks) will be taking place at the conference room located at the rear of The Table coffee shop. The Table (formally The Vine) is located on 33, Lower Hall Lane, Walsall, WS1 1RR. Paid parking is available opposite on the Mountrath Street car park. (£2-50 all day).
